BURNING MAN
Rebranding for a festival/event named BURNING MAN.
BURNING MAN is an event that holds in Black Rock City in Nevada. This week-long event encourages participants to express their individuality and creative collaboration in the formation of an artistic community. On the last day of the event, they burn the ‘Man’, which is an enormous size of the statue. The meaning and intention behind burning this man can be very subjective, but most people think that as a point where people leave all behind and move on to the next stage of their life. For the graphic, fully typographic system, I brought their core idea of the event, which is respecting each and everyone’s individuality and creativity which we can also see in their formation of the community, they are so beautifully divided, but also connected and becomes one as a community. And the keyword for this concept is ORDER and CHAOS. The sentence ‘BURNING + MAN + PROJECT’ at the top middle and bottom works as the framework of this whole system, and anything inside of this frame is filled with individuals in an orderly, but sometimes very chaotically.

A24 REBRANDING
Rebranding for independent film industry A24.
By placing the two distinctive types of logo at the top and bottom and content in the middle, the characteristics of the movie pursued by A24 and provided to people exist in the vague area and space between these two distinctive logos. Logos can be flexible with their sizes depending on what should be more focused and the ellipse shape contains the name or title. I decided to differentiate the system, A24 as a brand and A24 as support branding for movies. So for the movies and content-based applications, the content goes inside of the ellipse shape and the background goes blurred.

SVA REBRANDING
Rebranding for School of Visual Arts.
By selecting the 50:50 proportion system, it divides “School” and “ARTS” individually. The “School” side is formal, “Arts” side is expressive. Each side contains its own contents and information under each name. The intention behind SVA rebranding was to contain the legacy that SVA has over 75 years and at the same time contain the modern and futuristic aspect of design.

HUDOR
A water brand named ‘HUDOR’ has a concept of self-filtration that makes it able to provide qualified water at a reasonable price.
To emphasize the self-filtration concept of my bottled water, I set a hierarchy in my layout, it divides each layer with a thin line. So the top part will be the most important layer and the bottom layer will be the least important context or additional information etc. and the parentheses show the names of the content. Since HUDOR’s bottled water has a built-in filter inside of the bottle, anyone, any customer who drinks this water, they are filtering their own water. So inside of the parentheses, any names or places of customers can fit in. I leave the parentheses blank because I want people’s participate in this campaign.

ACCIDENTAL ART ARCHIVE
Archive book of accidental art pictures that 12 classmates took at a limited time and place.
“UBIQUITOUS” means something is existing or being everywhere at the same time. Since we took pictures of accidental art at random times and random places, I felt like the picture, an art piece that we make with our distinctive point of view, exists in random places and random times. The data-based fully typographic index represents the shape of New York City. The photo page contains all the picture based on the grid, and the 4 corner of the picture has dots. The right page goes with the same system, but it has the location of the photo and time instead of the picture. This decision was made in order to make the reader easy to follow, and the right page represents the shape of NYC’s streets and blocks.

SPACE SIGNAL DISPLAY
SSD is a font based on the concept of the future and the space. This font is made with an articulated shape system that allows viewers to experience it as a space signal or font from the future. The initial concept was based on the shape of braille letters. The impression that will get from seeing these letters will be varied by the color of letters and backgrounds, every letter articulated shape system interacts with negative space as well.

30 DAYS PROJECT
In the Honors course with Paul Sahre, we were assigned to design something for 30 days straight. I picked album cover as my media and start designing my favorite album covers. I narrow them down to 12 pieces. They basically contain the graphic that based on my personal analysis of each album.
